Tetanus Smetnus
Due to popular grossness, the pics have been taken down. Upon request pics can be forwarded on as a public service announcement.Injury #1 by Missy, Sunday 04-23-06, puncture wound to the leg by mysterious demo rubble. Speculation is rusty nail or shards of lathe.
This is a picture of one day old injury.
The story of the tetanus........
After being stabbed by mystery object, instant bruising and swelling but I am tough and stuck it out, until I went to work, and my co-workers convinced me that I had tetanus and would die. So not wanting to miss any work due to death. So the journey of the Tetanus begins. I called my regular doctor's office and they said come on up, we have tetanus here no problem. OK. So I go up there and say "I'm here for my tetanus...." They say, "Well do you have doctor's orders?" I say, "Well no, you didn't mentioned that on the phone." They say," Ohhh tetanus, you really need to see a doctor and get the shot within 24hrs of the stabbing." OK, so when can I see the doctor? Well, "Your doctor left early today, Sorry. And we are booked for the rest of the day. But you should really get the shot just to be sure." Ok, thanks.
So next I call Urgent Care, which for the record, do not keep your insurance card on file over a year. Bummer. So I have to go home and get my insurance card and head off to the east side urgent care. This is where the 3 hour ordeal continues. I check in, asking for a tetanus shot, no problem they say. Just hand over $105 in cash or charge and you will be on your way. Apparently, with a "puncture wound", you have to see an actual doctor before you get the shot. The worse 3 hrs of my life, but I got my shot and I am good for 7-10yrs before another Tetanus scare.
Here is the leg, one week later.
Still tender, but no signs of tetanus.
